Tent Collapsed

Our old, $40, cheapo mild-weather tent finally collapsed after almost 4 months of daily use. Actually, it has collapsed and been jury-rigged multiple times. We finally bought a heavy duty, 4-season, Alaska tent from Cabela’s for over $300. This is one nice tent!

Today the wind picked up and our old tent (which we left up) started collapsing as you can see in the picture below.

Note the black gorilla tape on the tent fly. We seam sealed the fly twice (it still leaked), taped it with gorilla tape (much better), and finally covered the entire tent with a huge tarp after waking up in a puddle of water.

After a few hours today in the strong wind, it finally collapsed.

Fortunately, we can sleep in our new and improved tent shown below.

We haven’t had a really strong thunderstorm with the new tent yet, so I don’t know just how waterproof it really is.
